WE DO NOT ACCEPT CHECKOUTS OR ATTENDANCE NOTIFICATIONS BY PHONE

Please bring attendance notes to the front office, email them to fchattendance@forsyth.k12.ga.us, or fax them to 770-781-2289.

*Please note, students who do not check-in/check-out with the attendance office before leaving campus will be considered skipping.

There will be NO checkouts after 3:15 PM. Please plan appointments accordingly.

Student Absences

Communication regarding the student’s absence must be submitted via fax, email or individually within five (5) school days for the student's absence to be considered excused. Student's name, the date(s) of absence(s), and the reason for the absence must be included on the documentation.

  • Medical notes may be submitted by parents for any absence, check-out, or check-in.
  • After 10 absences (excused or unexcused), a medical note will be required to excuse absences for the remainder of the academic year.

Check-in: Students must sign in through the attendance office when they arrive at school after 8:40am.

Check-out: If it is necessary for a student to check-out early, student drivers are responsible for submitting a note/email to the office before school starts, or the parent is required to either personally check out the student (ID REQUIRED), or email fchattendance@forsyth.k12.ga.us to confirm the check out. Phone calls to check out a student will not be permitted.

Regular attendance is essential to success in school. As permitted under the Georgia Compulsory Education Law and Forsyth County Board of Education policy, students may be excused for the following reasons:

  1. Personal illness or attendance in school that endangers a student’s health or the health of others.
  2. A serious illness or death in a student’s immediate family necessitating absence from school.
  3. A court order or an order by a governmental agency, including pre-induction physical examinations for service in the armed forces, mandating absence from school.
  4. The observance of religious holidays, needing absence from school.
  5. Conditions making attendance impossible or hazardous to student health or safety.
  6. A scheduled medical, dental, or eye examination of the student.
  7. Registering to vote or voting.
  8. A visit, up to five school days per year, with a parent or legal guardian who is on leave from or who is being deployed to military service.

Non-school related activities and vacations are considered unexcused.
